IDEAL-NM Leadership News

Dr. Tim Snyder, IDEAL-NM Executive Director, has announced his return to retirement, and for the time being, Veronica Chávez-Neuman, Higher Education Department CIO, will direct operations for the IDEAL-NM program. Snyder said that the intersection of his health issues and desire to spend more time with his wife and family (21 grandchildren!) led him to this decision. He has led IDEAL-NM since October 2007. "I have thoroughly enjoyed helping launch the IDEAL initiative," he said, "and plan to stay connected in a variety of ways. Breathtaking in its scope, IDEAL-NM can transform the way 21st century New Mexicans think about the teaching and learning process." It should be noted that Veronica Chávez-Neuman is well qualified to provide interim leadership for IDEAL-NM program, given her hands on involvement with IDEAL-NM from its inception. Also IDEAL-NM has a talented and dedicated staff that overcome numerous challenges and produce impressive results. Executive Leadership at the Higher Education and Public Education Departments, the IDEAL-NM Advisory Board, and the IDEAL-NM Leadership Team will be working together soon after the legislative session on planning the next stage in IDEAL-NM's future service to New Mexico.

In related news, the IDEAL-NM Advisory Board is pleased to announce the appointment of two new advisory board members: Shari Zimmer of the High Plains Regional Education Cooperative #3, and Gary Cozzens of Regional Education Cooperative #9. They will bring additional depth and knowledge to the board.
