8:00am – 12:00pm WebCT Futures in New Mexico.
  Panel: WebCT Futures work group members, WebCT Corporate Representatives, other invited guests, and any interested CHECS members). This meeting will discuss the future use of WebCT Vista in the state of New Mexico and will include the presentation of a proposal for a CHECS cooperative (shared) solution to address future support and funding challenges faced by the member institutions in the operation of an enterprise LMS solution. Discussion of how this type of solution has been deployed by other states. If you sign up to attend this event a more detailed agenda will be sent to you prior to the event.   In this session, we are going to discuss various types of remote access deployed in networks today including Dial, ISDN, VPN, DSL, and Cable. We will then specifically address the security models available and best practices for design and deployment. The agenda includes:

• Design solution and best practices
• Q&A + Whiteboard Session
8:00 am – 12:00pm Wireless Networking and Security
  Wireless networking, turning it loose in your organization is an exciting prospect for users, but can be a headache for the managers and staff that maintain the network. One big concern in any wireless network is security. How can you be sure that private data and communications stay private? This session will cover technologies for implementing wireless - 802.11A, 802.11B, and G - while keeping your network cost-effective and secure in addition to Recommended Security Architecture and Securing Resources in Private VLANS.
8:00 am – 12:00pm Oracle 9iRAC & Network Appliance Storage
  In this session, we will perform a live demonstration of a clustering solution using Oracle 9iRAC (Real Application Cluster) and Network Appliance storage solution. Solutions providers will be on hand to answer questions and discuss methodologies for implementing clustering solutions.
8:00 am – 12:00pm Upgrading to Active Directory / Understanding Active Directory
 

In this session, we are going to start with a typical NT 4.0 Domain, and upgrade it to Active Directory under Windows 2000/2003. We will talk about in depth:

* Active Directory terminology & components
* Active Directory planning guidelines
* How to upgrade the servers
* How to get Active Directory running
* How to co-exist with Exchange 5.5
* How to implement Exchange 2000 / Exchange 2003

During the session, we will be upgrading 2 servers from NT 4 to Windows 2003, and then upgrading Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000 (time permitting) so you can see how the process works. This will be in a demo-format, not actual hands on.
8:00 am – 12:00pm Gateway Tablet PC’s Hands on Training
 

Session Description: In this session we will provide a unique hands-on training session focusing on the exiting new Tablet PC’s offered by Gateway. Training will include:

1. Basic introduction of the product.
2. Use and functionality.
3. Hands on exercise that will implement all major components of this technology including:

a. Handwriting Recognition
b. Voice Recognition
c. Ink tools over all applications
d. Form maker applications
e. Using the internet and applications together

4. Developing a wireless network using Colligo Software Solution'

This class will use the Gateway Centrion Tablet PC’s by Motion Systems. This class will be limited to an audience of 30 users for Hands-on participation.
